I have a rather odd request for the BnS community. I would like to see how BnS looks and plays as it likely would on the consoles. And here we go...

 

Tweaks to the settings in BnS make it possible to replicate to some degree what BnS would be like on consoles because of the limits the consoles have or probably would.a max of 60fps and a resolution between 720p and 1080p are the most obvious. From there, a guesstimate of resources used relative to resources available on consoles is the next logical step. There's 5 gigs for games on Xbone and 6 for PS4. The game seems more dependent on cpu than GPU from what I've seen. The GPU specs for both consoles can easily be found by doing a web search. The CPU specs are also easily found through the same avenue. The big question is how the available resources could best be balanced for the best gaming experience. 

 

Let me apologise in advance for seeming wonky. Life's been fairly generous to me in some very peculiar ways. Both physically and emotionally.

Just based on the bits I know of the PS4 specifications, you would have to lock the game at around 720P (Or possibly less!) and may need to downgrade several of the physics in game for the CPU to handle it in crowded areas; or limit the amount of detail shown in crowded areas by a lot (Possibly hiding full players and only showing 5 or so players/NPC at a time; similar to how the PS3 version of FFXIV works).

 

This is not really because the PS4 can't handle it, but because UE3, when used on MMO, is a tremendous CPU hog. People on PC report that even when OC'ing their CPU to over 4 GHZ, they still struggle in crowded areas.

Keep in mind, that in addition, UE3 only utilizes one core mainly, with a secondary core partially. The rest of the cores are almost never used. Which brings us to the 8 cores on the PS4.

 

Let that sink in a little.

We're talking about 1.6 GHz, spread across 2 cores for B&S (Remember, UE3).

 

The bottom line, in my opinion, is that for the game to truly shine on console, it would have to be drastically altered and the engine would also have to be heavily modified.

Both feats that would require a tremendous investment on NCSOFT's end. Which IMO, I doubt they're willing to pull.

 

Similarly, Square Enix did take that chance recently with FFXIV and redid the engine entirely, in hopes of achieving this.

 

In my opinion, it was successful on their end. However, it is without question that the PC version of FFXIV is still superior to the PS4 and specially to the PS3 version. The UI elements can be accomodated more easily, there is several more options available and I'm not even going to mention things like third party addons. 

 

I'm not talking max.

Max is completely out of the equation here. Average resolution is also out of the equation; PS4 and specially not XBONE will be able to handle 1080P for B&S.

I am saying the top it will likely go is 720P as noted above (That's being generous).

 

Your textures could possibly stay at a medium to high level (The memory is there to support it, somewhat) but everything else on settings would go down to medium or less or more than likely, possibly removed completely.

In the end, you would have a not-so-good looking game. Which is why I don't think this idea would be worth execution unless the engine is changed to something else (Unlikely) or the engine is heavily modified (Also unlikely to happen).

Blade And Soul VS Guild Wars 2

BnS is much more linear than Gw2, with far less content and quest variety. Nothing interesting to do besides fight, but the combat system is amazing so it's playing to it's strength there

Blade And Soul Guide: New player weapon upgrade

New players will get a second weapon after you reach the Bamboo Village from the storyline quests. This weapon should be kept and upgraded for a long time. No need to replace it, as it will remain as the strongest Blade And Soul item u have with very little work.

All classes are fit for both PVE and PVP, some may have better tools in certain situations, some may have more aoe abilities, some may have more multi or single target dps cycles and some may be more flashy than others
